Realtime Assessment of WASH Coordination in Humanitarian Emergencies
A key component of effective humanitarian response is coordination, which brings together relevant stakeholders and ultimately, ideally, increases efficiency. This work aimed to better understand the perspective of National Coordination Platform (NCP) partners on how water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) coordination leads to response outcomes in humanitarian contexts.
To gain a deeper understanding of the views of WASH stakeholders on the overall value of the NCP in humanitarian response, we conducted evaluations in three contexts facing different humanitarian crises:
Cox’s Bazar, DRC, and Yemen.
Over a 9-month period from February to October 2020, we:
1) conducted 17 key informant interviews with NCP staff and collected information monthly on NCP activities, tools, and products;
2) conducted 76 key informant interviews with WASH stakeholders; and,
3) collected 157 online surveys and summarized these results together with a “NCP survey” conducted in Cox’s Bazar.
